Now is a great time to book a trip to Union Valley Reservoir for kokanee!!

We are now taking reservations for guided fishing trips. Ken will be guiding for Mackinaw, Rainbows, Browns and Kokanee, on lakes found in El Dorado and surrounding counties. You will be fishing in Ken's 21 1/2 ft. Harbercraft boat fully outfitted with Lowarnce electronics, electric Big Jon down riggers, for your safety, comfort and trolling needs. We will be supplying all the necessary equipment, Loomis rods, Abu Garcia reels and our custom tackle, to provide you with a day full of fishing fun. All you need to bring is sunscreen, a hat, your valid CA. fishing license, lunch/snacks, drinks, camera and your good luck so that you are ready for a great day. Children 12 yrs. or younger must wear a life jacket at all times while in the boat.
Ken will also do educational trips with you in our boat or in your boat to share his fishing knowledge.  One of our Gift Certificates would be a great idea if you have someone you know that needs a little help.

I will never forget it because I will have proof of the catch on my wall above my desk to admire forever. You put myself and my four buddies on our first Macs. ever and they were whappers.  Five rookies and 5 huge macs and a total of 8 for the 3 day fishing trip. We had the most pleasurable experience we have had in a long time when we booked a trip with Captain Ken on April 29th. From the greeting at the boat launch to the final goodbye, he was such an incredible host. We met early in the morning at the Crystal Basin for a day of Mackinaw fishing, he was as anxious to get on the water as we were and made us feel welcome. Being a “rookie” was not intimidating with him at the helm, he told us from the beginning “we may catch one fish, we may catch 3, but until we catch the first one we are just on a boat ride”. At first this seemed a little daunting, I thought you just “toss your line out and catch a fish”, Ken quickly dispelled this misunderstanding. He has such a great knowledge of the lake, spots to hit and techniques to use. Being the only female on the boat I was allowed to catch the first fish…he taught me the correct way to finesse the line to catch that 10 lb , my husband caught a 15lb Trophy, and our son, the seasoned fisherman caught the 8 lb baby. We caught 3 fish total, lost one due to my inexperience, but the experience will stay with us forever. Have to tell you, Captain Ken had the respect of all the fishermen on the lake, throughout the day he would get calls from other boats for tips, help with an injured fish and calls for encouragement, we all cheered when others caught fish and offered support for those who got spooled and lost a big one. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience Ken, we look forward to our next trip with you in July for Kokanee! -- The Terrells

"I stopped at Ken's booth at the Cal Expo Sportsman Show in February. I have always wanted to fish for large Mackinaws. He said spring thaw at Union Valley was a good for trophy fish. I paid my deposit for a 2 day adventure. Communication in Feb. & March was good. We camped in the snow at West Point Boat Ramp on April 26 & 27. Ken's boat, tackle and experience was First Class. He truely works hard for you. My biggest fish was 35 " long, 17 1/2 lbs & we released it. 2-3 other macks in the 8-10# trophy class were released also. I'm very happy." -- Wally Baumgartner

It was a perfect day!  Beautiful scenery, ospreys and eagles, and the best trout fishing action I have ever had.  Ken provided a very comfortable boat, top of the line poles and reels, and his own designed and produced lures and tackle.  This combined with his vast knowledge of fishing Loon lake, my son Michael and I had a day to remember.  Besides limiting out, Michael landed a 3+ pound native rainbow.  I was especially taken with our hand made, custom lures that Ken manufactures and provides.  I have no doubt that is a big reason we were doing so much better than the other boats on the lake.
